Greetings from Rorschach Training Programs!
I am sure it has been a busy summer for most of you and we appreciate your continued interest in receiving this Newsletter.
Rorschach International Meeting
July was busy with traveling to Tokyo, Japan to attend the International Rorschach and Projective Techniques Congress July 15-22. It was a grand success, and in spite of the problems in Japan, the meeting went off without a hitch. Tony Sciara and I gave our workshop on the 16th to about 30 participants. The plenary session was held on the next day. Bruce Smith, the president of the Congress, gave an excellent opening address, urging that the current Rorschach controversies be settled in an ethical, scientific fashion.
The meeting involved many competently-delivered paper sessions and symposia. One of the highlights of the meeting was a case presentation by a panel of experts representing different methods and approaches to assessment.
Tokyo turned out to be a fascinating place to visit. I even had an opportunity to participate in a tea ceremony available to Congress participants. The Japanese people were excellent hosts and we owe a lot to Noriko Nokamura, the chairperson for the meeting. Her plans were extremely well-executed and the Japanese Rorschach Societies are obviously very viable organizations.
The next Congress will be in Istanbul in 2014. It is one of my favorite places in the world, and I encourage you to attend. If the meeting is anything like the one in Tokyo, it will be well worth your effort.

Carl-Erik Mattlar’s monograph on the current status of the Comprehensive System and the Rorschach Performance Assessment System is available on the RTP website. It is entitled “The Issue of an Evolutionary Development of the Rorschach (RCS) Versus a Revolutionary Change (R-PAS)” and is an attempt to begin an ethical, scientific comparison of the two Rorschach approaches.
