Program Description: This training program provides the equivalent of one semester of graduate training in the Rorschach Comprehensive System (35 hours) – a minimum standard for competence with the method, set by the Society of Personality Assessment. The program is designed to teach participants adequate procedures for the administration of the method. It also teaches the criteria and guidelines for coding that take participants to a level of competence near the expert level. Furthermore, it introduces participants to a knowledge of interpretation procedures that prepares them for a second semester equivalent in training, (e.g. an advanced Rorschach Training Program) that will take them to an expert level of competence in all phases of the method (administration, coding, and interpretation).

Participant Preparation for the Beginning Training Program
Program materials will be mailed 4-6 weeks prior to the training program. Reading and pre-training program protocol scoring is required.

Materials Provided to Participants in the Beginning Level Training Program:
1. The Rorschach Workbook for the Comprehensive System, 5th Ed. (RW, 2001)
2. A Primer for Rorschach Interpretation (RW, 2000)

Program Description:
The Reunion Program is open to all those who have participated in previous Rorschach Workshops and/or Rorschach Training Programs. It is an opportunity to participate in interpreting complicated protocols, share views with other experienced Rorschachers, and
hear updates from a variety of invited speakers. Research will be presented to address potential enhancements to the Rorschach variables that can help practitioners in increasing the usefulness of this valuable system. Protocols will cover all age levels including adolescence and childhood. Some MMPI-2 will be included, but most of the emphasis will be on the Rorschach Comprehensive System.
In addition to the four day Program with multiple faculty, participants are invited to a complimentary Friday evening dinner hosted by Drs. Sciara and Vargo.

This three day Advanced Program is open to those with prior Rorschach experience.  The focus of the Program will be on integrating the use of the MMPI-2 and the Rorschach Comprehensive System in personality evaluation and treatment planning.  During the three days, six case protocols will be presented with discussions of test results,
interpretation, implications for treatment planning, and eventual outcomes.

Participants must be familiar with the format for the Comprehensive System, as described in A Rorschach Workbook for the Comprehensive System, 5th Ed. and A Primer for Rorschach Interpretation.

Objectives: At the end of the Program participants will be able to:

• Apply effective administration and coding techniques to improve accuracy
• Interpret the MMPI-2 clinical, content, and supplementary scales focusing on their implications for treatment planning
• Interpret the Rorschach Structural Summary focusing on its implication for treatment planning
• Integrate MMPI-2 and Rorschach data to assist in answering psychological questions
• Develop a treatment plan/report in user-friendly language that is sensitive to diversity issues

The Rorschach Comprehensive System as developed by John E. Exner, Jr., Ph.D. has been the predominant system in use for administration, coding and interpretation of the Rorschach since shortly after its inception in 1974. Dr. Exner died in 2006 leaving Rorschach Workshops, the legal rights to all his writings, and all his files to his family. While Rorschach Workshops still continues to sell his books and forms, there is no psychologist in the family to continue research, writing, and publication of new information.

This article will look at the impact his death will have on the Comprehensive System (CS). For whatever reason, Dr. Exner did not appoint a successor. The lack of an identified successor to continue CS research has left a leadership void. There is a current initiative by some psychologists to develop a new system for use with the Rorschach. This plan for the development of a new system will be discussed along with how the CS will continue to grow and change in the future.
